Mühlbach am Hochkönig is an ideal place to spend a Summer holiday, with a wealth of activities in and around the village.
Activities within Mühlbach include :-
Walking - There are 120 kms of clearly marked hiking paths, ranging in height from 900 to 2900 metres. You can walk from Mühlbach to the summit of the Hochkönigs, and stay overnight on the edge of the glacier at Matrashaus . Further information about walking in the area can be found here
The Karbachalm cable car(Single and Returns available)from near the village, will take you up to a height of 1600 metres to begin your walk . There are fantastic views of the Hochkönig mountain range and many typical Austrian mountain restaurants to enjoy. Cable car prices - Adult -Return- €9.10, Children - €5.30
Swimming - The open air swimming pool is just 2 minutes walk from our house. Prices- Adult -€2.34 Children - €1.26
Tennis - There are 4 clay courts in the village that are available to hire.
Mine Museum - Mühlbach is an old copper mining village and the mine museum is directly behind our house.You can also go down an old mine tunnel.
Fishing - There are several places to fish and permits can be bought at the tourist office.
Mountain Biking - There are plenty of tours available for all levels of proficiency.Easy, level trails down in the valley, and rather challenging routes high up on the mountains! A free guide is available from the tourist office.
Activities for Children - Throughout the Summer there are various children’s activities organised in the village, ranging from a horseback adventure ride to tennis coaching and family hikes. Further information can be foundhere.

Hohenwerfen castle - A great day out with a guided tour, restaurant and a birds of prey display . This is the castle that was used in the film “Where Eagles Dare” starring Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood.Castle web site
Golf - There are numerous golf courses in the area, such as a Championship 18 hole golf course at Maria Alm.
For the adventurous there is zorbing and a summer toboggan run at Flachau.
Salzburg - a beautiful city with a fortress, shops, gardens, museums and cultural events.2006 represents 250 years since the birth of Mozart and there are events throughout the year.
